Beertopia Hong Kong Gallery Now Up
This was the second year for Beertopia Hong Kong – a festival of craft beers from around the world. Last year it was held at the Western Market in Sheung Wan; this year it was outdoors at the West Kowloon Promenade. Aside from the beers, there was a good selection of food and 10 bands performing live, including visiting Canadian band Van de Kamp. I was hired to shoot the afternoon session and it enjoyed it so much that I returned in the evening with my girlfriend to join in the crowd. Here’s a few photos, lots more can be found on the Beertopia Hong Kong 2013 gallery page.

New Gallery – LiveVibe Hong Kong 2013
Newly added to my Gallery pages is a set of photos from LiveVibe Hong Kong 2013. Shot on March 2nd and 3rd, 2013 at the Jockey Club Auditorium at Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the shows featured ten dance acts, headlined by the terrific Philippines Allstars. Here’s a few samples, check the gallery page for more!

My Photo in MOJO Magazine
MOJO is a monthly music magazine from the UK that leans towards coverage of classic rock. And this month, they ran one of my photos – a photo of David Peel that I took over 40 years ago!
I’d previously posted a scan of this photo on the blog, which is how they found it.
I’m thrilled to be included in the magazine, even if it’s just a tiny photo I took back in my college days. BTW, my friend Kevin Westenberg is a staff photographer there. (He’s an amazingly talented photographer, check his web site!)
Photo of the Day – A Philippines All Star
Finishing up the photos from day 2 of LiveVibe Hong Kong 2013. Here’s Naomi Tamayo, a member of the Philippine All Stars.
Yeah, I know, she’s gorgeous, hard to stop at just one photo – so here’s one more.

Objects of Lust
Renowned photo-journalist Isaac Pereira was visiting Hong Kong yesterday and asked me to bring him to places where he could find “analog” film and paper. After scoring what he needed in Mong Kok, I suggested a visit to Champagne Court in Tsim Sha Tsui. It’s one of those rare gems in Hong Kong, a one-floor shopping center that’s primarily devoted to used film cameras. The selection in the shops there is truly mind-boggling.
Here’s something you won’t see every day – an 8mm Nikon lens. (HK$12,000 is approximately US$1,500.)
Yeah, they have a few Rolleiflex’s.
More Hasselblad’s than you could shake a stick at (if that’s your idea of a good time).
Ever just look at a camera and wonder what it has seen in its lifetime?
Bonus photo – Isaac was shooting some Sony promo girls showing off Sony’s new tablet computer thingie. I took the opportunity to get this photo of him. (Okay, I did get some shots of the Sony girls too but I think this photo is more interesting.)
