Taal Lake, Tagaytay, Philippines

Wikipedia says: Taal Lake is a freshwater lake in the province of Batangas, on the island of Luzon in the Philippines. The lake fills Taal Caldera, a large volcanic caldera formed by very large eruptions between 500,000 and 100,000 years ago. It is the country’s third largest lake after Laguna de Bay and Lake Lanao. Volcano Island, the location of Taal Volcano’s historical eruptions and responsible for the lake’s sulfuric content, lies near the center of the lake. There is a crater lake on Volcano Island. Known as the Yellow Lake or the Main Crater Lake, it contains its own small island, Vulcan Point.

Here’s a couple of shots, still going to keep playing around a bit with them so possibly a few more in days to come.

It seems the only time I’m shooting anything lately is when I get on my bicycle and stick my Sony RX100 in my pocket. At least it’s not hard to find something to point the camera at.

I had a few sort of jokey titles for this, all in bad taste, so I’ll abstain.

This one made me think of Jimmy Webb’s line from Wichita Lineman – I hear you singin’ in the wires.

One of our two new puppies, Lucky, getting his first bath. “Why you do this to me?”

Full moon over Angeles. Bitch of a shot to get with the RX100.

Random Manila

Yes, I’m still alive. And I’m still shooting, though not as often right now.

Dutdutan XV Philippines Tattoo Expo

It’s been awhile since I’ve really shot anything. So it felt good to get out this weekend with a bag of gear over my shoulder, fighting my way through the Manila traffic to reach the World Trade Center in Pasay on September 26th to spend a few hours shooing at Dutdutan XV Philippines Tattoo Expo. This was a huge (and very well run) event, easily 2 or 3 times larger than the Hong Kong Tattoo Convention that I shot last year. Unfortunately I couldn’t stick around long enough to see Maria Ozawa, but I did see a lot of talented artists at work, heard a couple of good bands, watched a skateboarding competition and saw quite a few lovely ladies in attendance. Here are just a few of my favorite shots from the day:

There’s a lot more pictures at the Dutdutan XV gallery page, please take a look!
