You can read a full review of the show on The Underground’s web site.  There’s lots more pictures in the Underground 106 gallery here.

I just want to add a note about the venue.  The Live House is a relatively small place in a basement in Mong Kok.  It’s well worth checking out if you’re over on “the dark side.”  For one thing, this place is owned by people who also own a  recording studio in Hong Kong and features one of the best sound systems I’ve encountered in a venue this size.  They also have real stage lighting (which means, among other things, that for once I didn’t need to resort to either flash or high ISO’s to get these shots).  With the sound and lighting so much nicer than they had to be, it tells me that these people actually care about live music.  I’ll be back!

Which camera did you use? I’m looking at the Hazden photo especially. I like it a lot. Not an easy one to get, with the performers moving, low light and an open lens (and probably hand held too). Very nice.

It’s the Nikon D800 with 24-70mm F2.8 lens. All of the stage shots are ISO 1600, F2.8, shutter speed 1/160 or 1/200, varying focal lengths and yes, all hand-held. Thanks.

Thanks Dave. Yeah, the reviews on that lens have been amazing. I’m not going to be buying any equipment for awhile though.
