The D800 is a fussy sod.

The X Pro 1 is still a lazy bugger.

D600 allows you to kill two birds with one stone and not invest in two systems (dumb?).

The only downside with Nikon (and Canon) is the lack of image stabilisation for primes.

Thanks for sharing your experiences with the x-pro1 and for the valuable info on HK prices. I am going to be in HK for the next 2 weeks and would really like to visit “Hong Kong’s only official Fuji shop” that you mentioned. Could you please give me an address or a ph.number as my google search was not successful. Thank you in advance.
As for shooting from the hip, it is tough to judge at first but can be mastered by practice. I’ve become quite good at it with my X100 over the past 9-10 month.

I’m quite happy with the D800 and I have some fast primes. I don’t see any point in downsizing from the D800 to the D600.

Have you considered ditching the D800 and the X Pro 1 and getting a D600 and a couple of fast primes?

The D600 is available for only HK$15K now…

XP1 with the FW 2.0 is much faster focusing. I hardly ever miss a shot because of a focusing issue in AF-S. As for shooting from the hip, practice.

OMd is an excellent street camera in many ways its almost perfect. Shooting from the hip is really easy. Took me a while to get it set up how I like though and I needed a half case because it is too small.
