Coming Soon – Nikon S800c With Android

The above is a photo of the upcoming Nikon Coolpix S800c camera.  It features a 16 megapixel sensor, a 10X optical zoom, a 3.5 inch LCD, WiFi and Android version 2.3.

I’m thinking that it would be sort of  like an Android version of the iPod touch but with a significantly better camera.  Either this is going to be a ground-breaking new camera that shakes up the industry or a total failure.  Given Android’s popularity and that I think there’s a big market out there for a real camera with WiFi and photo sharing capabilities, this could be a hit.

It comes out at the end of September, no word on the price yet.

Good on Nikon for being first (about bloody time, industry), but Nikon Coolpix suck. BenQ will do something just as good for half the price in 3 months.

Lets see what Sony do. They seem to be the only player in the compact arena that is pushing IQ.
