2012 Pulitzer Prizes For Photography

The 2012 Pulitzer Prizes were announced yesterday, including awards for photography.

In the category of Breaking News Photography, the winner was Massoud Hossaini of Agence France-Presse for this powerful image taken in Kabul following a suicide bombing.

This image ran on the front page of the New York Times, Washington Post and Los Angeles Times on December 7th, 2011.  Also nominated as finalists in this category:  Carolyn Cole and Brian van der Brug of the L.A. Times for their series of photos in Japan following last years disasters and John Moore, Peter Macdiarmid and Chris Hondros of Getty Images for their coverage of the Arab Spring.

The winner in the Feature Photography category was Craig F. Walker of the Denver Post for his series of photos on an Iraqi war veteran dealing with post-traumatic stress.

Also nominated in this category:  David Guttenfelder, Ng Han Guan and Rafael Wober of AP for a feature on daily life in North Korea and Francine Orr of the L.A. Times for her feature on families with autistic children.
