Heta Uma is the name of one of the bands that was playing at Xperience Live, a monthly club series at Xperience Bar in Wanchai. These guys describe themselves as:
ANTI-MACHO STADIUM, OUTCAST LONERS ROCK.
FORMED IN THE SUMMER OF 2008, HONG KONG
They’re quite different from your standard Hong Kong indie band, at least the ones I’ve heard. Musically it’s a melange of 80s post-punk, grunge and hardcore.
Two young-ish Asian guys, one old-ish Caucasian, making a might noise indeed. And … halfway through the set, the guitarist’s girlfriend came onstage and gave him a hair cut. Performance art? Post-modernism? Whatever it was, my jaw dropped in a mixture of awe and disbelief.
I loved these guys. I’ll gladly go see them again.
